New flight school opens in South Carolina

A new flight school at the Conway airport celebrated its grand opening with skydivers, helicopters, and experimental aircraft displays. Innovative Flying is accepting up to 25 students for its first year, and had 11 people enroll at the opening celebration, according to WPDE-TV.
"There's already been a forecast for the need for additional pilots. That means this school is opening at just about the right time," Mike Marlowe, the general aviation manager for all four of Horry County's airports, told the Myrtle Beach Sun News.
The school, which is affiliated with the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA), plans to offer flight lessons for people interested in earning their pilot's license in both the private and commercial sectors. The president of the PIA told the Sun News that the school will not offer formal classes at the beginning, but they will provide free ground training to prepare students for the written pilot exams for private licensing.
Students of the school will undergo lessons in aircraft systems and functions, navigation, aeronautical meteorology and the rules and regulations. People who are considering becoming pilots can invest in pilot insurance as an added measure of protection.
