Silver introduces flights between Tampa, Gainesville

Silver Airways recently announced it will be offering flights between Florida's Tampa International Airport and Gainesville Regional Airport starting the middle of April.
Silver Airlines is purchasing 34-seat Saab 340B turboprops to add to its existing fleet of Gulfstream 19-seat Beechcraft 1900D turboprops. There will be two flights a day on truboprop aircrafts Monday through Friday, and one flight a day on the weekends. One-way ticket prices will start at $49, including taxes and service charges for flights booked before March 5, The Tampa Tribune reported.
According to Ocala.com, Silver Airways is now a regional carrier for United/Continental and Copa Airlines. Originally, Silver was a segment of the now-bankrupt Gulfstream International Airlines, until it was acquired by United and Continental during a 2010 merger.
The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority announced the new flights, adding it is seeking $1.7 million from the BP fund for revenue loss experienced during the 2010 Gulf oil spill. Travel to Florida was significantly slowed as a result of the spill, and many organizations lost business and are seeking compensation, The Tampa Tribune reported.
While it cannot prevent an oil spill, pilot insurance can help protect pilots and travels from suffering financial hardship from mishaps in the sky.
