Summit Aviation to expand Middletown facilities

A Delaware aviation company announced recently that it will expand its presence in the state through additional facilities, which should help its capability to service general aviation.
Summit Aviation, which is owned by Greenwich AeroGroup, said it was adding a hanger with a total of 37,400 square feet. Furthermore, a new paint facility and office space will be included in the company's expansion plans.
"By increasing our service and maintenance capacity and support, we can provide our customers with an organization that is both responsive and flexible to meet their operational maintenance requirements," Robert Fitzpatrick, president of Summit Aviation, said.
Including the recently announced expansion and an upgrade that has already been completed, the company will invest about $12 million at its Middletown, Delaware, location. Summit Aviation provides a number of services, including maintenance and modification services for general aviation, and other, aircraft.
The expansion should be a good sign for the industry as it works to cement its position and importance in the nation's economy. Recently, South Carolina's Myrtle Beach International Airport opened a general aviation terminal which cost $4.5 million.
