Houston is continuing to court Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in hopes the school will place a campus in the city, reports the Rockford Register Star.
Bringing the school to the city could be a major economic boost. The newspaper says the campus would bring 1,000 students and 250 employees to the area.
Having the campus would also help supply a stream of talented workers for area businesses. Additionally, area hotels, restaurants and similar institutions can thrive when a college full of students is nearby.
The paper notes that it's important for Houston to go all-out if it wants the aviation-oriented school to call the city home. Illinois has also been vying for the campus.
Many people cannot pursue their passion and potentially turn it into a career until college. Some students enroll in such programs as a means to earn their pilot's license and learn how to safely navigate the skies for their own pleasure and not as a career.
Even those who obtain training from the best school should still consider purchasing life insurance for pilots. There are many dangerous situations that can arise that will simply be out of a person's control.
