NASCAR's Hendrick released from hospital after plane crash

Rick Hendrick, NASCAR team owner, was recently released from the hospital one week after his private plane ran off the runway during a landing and crashed. The accident left Hendrick with four broken ribs and a broken shoulder, as well as subsequent damage to his plane, typical outcomes that most pilot insurance plans will cover.
The Associated Press reported Hendrick, his wife and two pilots were aboard the Gulfstream G150, flying into the Key West International Airport, when the plane experienced brake issues when trying to land. Linda Hendricks experienced minor cuts and bruises, and the two pilots were not injured.
The CBS affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina, WBTV, reported after the brakes failed on the plane, the landing gear also collapsed, forcing the plane to veer 1,000 feet off the runway. The plane crossed a 600-foot overrun, hit the side of a ditch and then ran into a berm, resulting in structural damage to the entire plane.
According to the source, the pilot hit the brakes twice to make them work, then applied the thrust reversers to stop the plane, but those failed as well. When officials came to the site, Hendrick's injuries were found to be serious and he was taken to the hospital.
