Two flight instructors in New York develop free ground school

Individuals have begun addressing the problems with student retention in American flight schools in recent months.
In order to help contribute to efforts to encourage student pilots to keep at it, two New York flight instructors, Zachary Barrett and Jay6 Van Essendelft, will begin running their free school beginning May 14 and running every Saturday for 12 weeks.
"The goal of the course will be to spread the word about general aviation, educate new pilots, help individuals towards passing the FAA written exam, as well as help current pilots boost their knowledge levels," Barrett told the source. "The course itself is being designed not only as a written test prep but also to show people the joys of coming out to the airport and getting involved in our community."
Training is an integral part of what keeps pilots safe, and experts recommend that even veteran pilots take every opportunity to continue training in order to add to their expertise. However, even the most experienced pilot is not infallible, and the risk of a fatal accident applies to pilots of all experience levels. Having pilot life insurance coverage may be a wise decision, particularly for those with dependents, or debts that may survive them in death.
