FAA seeks agreement with aviation industry for pilot knowledge test reform

Many members of the aviation industry were concerned about the recent unannounced changes to the knowledge tests required for pilot licenses, which may have led to a number of test failures, according to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
However, the Federal Aviation Administration has said that it is interested in addressing any issue the changes may have caused as well as working with members of the pilot training industry for any future changes to the test bank.
The AOPA says that officials from the FAA's Airmen Testing Standards Branch met with major members and interest groups from the aviation industry in April 20 to discuss the concerns over the changes to test questions.
"Changing the knowledge areas tested without coordinating with instructors does nothing to advance aviation safety; it only results in more money spent by applicants for their certification, scarred permanent records, and frustrated instructors not given the tools to perform their duties effectively," said AOPA Manager of Regulatory Affairs Kristine Hartzell.
Training is an important aspect of the auto insurance industry and plays a significant role in arming pilots with the knowledge needed to manage crisis situations. However, training can not always assist pilots in avoiding potential fatal accidents. As a result, it is important that pilots invest in pilot life insurance to financially provide for loved ones in their absence should they die during a fatal crash.
