A store owned by Banyan Air Service that offers pilot supplies recently held a customer appreciation day, which played host to more than 360 people at Fort Lauderdale's Executive Airport. Hanger63 put on the event, which featured vendors dealing in different types of pilot supplies, including inflatable safety rafts, flight headsets and a number of aircraft. The event also features other flight organizations like Angel flight, the Florida Aero Club and the Fort Lauderdale Flight Training. There were also family-oriented activities, including face painting, a bounce house and a basketball game. Chuck Speakman, manager of the pilot supply store, put the event together and said he was pleased with the number of people that showed up, including customers and vendors. "Without great customers and great vendors, events such as this would simply not be possible," Speakman said. Another recent customer appreciation day put on by the Home Depot featured general aviation aircraft, which had to be navigated past signs and other road-related obstructions on its way to a store. Those who brought planes to the event noted it was a chance to encourage general aviation awareness among attendees.
