Pilots have a technological treat from Garmin to salivate over. The GPS company recently unveiled the G5000.
The new GPS unit is designed to make flying safer for pilots. The device incorporates a touchscreen panel for use in the cockpit.
Garmin president and COO Cliff Pemble says the company has been at the forefront of designing GPS units designed to make travel easier and less stressful for people using all modes of transportation.
"In the days when GPS was still in its infancy, we envisioned creating a wide range of products that would help consumers, mariners, and pilots pinpoint positions and navigate to destinations," says Pemble. "The company has embraced this vision for over 20 years and today we're a unique and innovative location technology provider spanning a diverse group of markets."
Using such a tool can help aid pilots during their travels by alerting them to potentially dangerous conditions. Following a checklist and regular aircraft maintenance can also improve safety. Despite this, it's a good idea to purchase life insurance for pilots, should something go wrong during a flight.
