Hartzell announces new alternator

Hartzell Engine Technologies recently announced its ALV-9610 100-amp aircraft alternator has been approved by the the Federal Aviation Administration.
The ALV-9610 alternator is lightweight and provides integral noise filtering that will replace larger, geared alternators for the general aviation community.
The Hartzell alternator can also be used for other applications outside of aviation. It weighs 12.75 pounds and company officials have said that makes the technology easier to install, saving up to 9.25 pounds per alternator, compared to units on the market.
"Since acquiring the business in late 2010, Hartzell Engine Technologies has been committed to improving the quality of its alternators and bringing new technology to the market," said Mike Disbrow, president of Hartzell Engine Technologies. "When compared to the bigger, heavier units it replaces, our new ALV-9610 is a very dramatic example of that commitment."
Hartzell's ALV-9610 costs $1,100, along with a core charge that includes a two year warranty.
The Hartzell Air Movement sector of the company introduced a zero-leak ventilator at the end of last month that moves the motor and propellor out of the service doors airstream. The new system allows no moisture to get to critical systems on board a plane.
