Jeppesen recently announced it will be offering digital textbooks to encourage training solutions for students and current pilots. The e-books are available through the Apple iBookstore, Jeppesen's Private Pilot Guided Flight Discovery manual and the A&P Technician General, Airframe and Powerplant textbooks and reference books, which can be accessed on an iPad.
“Jeppesen training e-books on iPad represents a dynamic and interactive environment that resonates with the learning style of today’s student pilots,” said Julie Filucci, senior manager, Jeppesen Aviation Training Solutions. “As we help to lead the paper-to-digital industry transformation, this initial offering is the first phase of our e-books platform that we will continue to introduce to enhance the learning process for the next generation of pilots.”
Pilots and students can access training materials with enhanced capabilities on an iPad and computer, including highlighting, bookmarking, hyper-linking, note taking and font adjustment features.
Jeppesen also recently announced the Garmin GPSMAP 696 avionics platform in a computer-based training program. On-screen prompts and real-time feedback are given to pilots in the comfort of their homes.
Those considering these tools should also look into pilot life insurance as a way to prepare finances for the future.
