Programs educate public on aviation career options

The number of people participating in aviation for recreational purposes as well as those considering making a career out of flying have steadily decreased over the years. There have been several outreach efforts made by various organizations and flight schools to change that.
An article written for ABC newspapers reports that there will be an aviation career night in December at the Anoka County-Blane Airport in Minnesota.
Minnesota Department of Transportation aeronautics manager Janese Thatcher told the paper many people are unaware of the career options available.
"Most people have a complete lack of knowledge of general aviation, even though it represents 75 percent of the total industry," Thatcher told the paper. "Almost all of the entry-level positions that are filled from college and university aviation programs and flight schools are in general aviation."
In addition to attending career fairs, people can learn more about aviation careers through colleges that offer degrees in the area. Flight schools and some universities offer programs that educate and train students on how to operate and maintain aircraft. Even with the best training, however, life insurance for pilots is a good idea in case they meet danger in the sky.
