U.S. Airways has another title to add to its list of achievements for creating a good work environment. The airline has earned a perfect score for the sixth year in a row on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index.
The Human Rights Campaign rates employers on their policies towards lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Companies are evaluated based on their benefit offerings towards same-sex partners and diversity. U.S. Airways has an LGBT employee resource group and takes part in Pride events in several cities.
U.S. Airways human resources vice president Dan Pon says the airline is glad to be recognized for its corporate culture.
"We are committed to maintaining an inclusive environment in which all of our employees are treated with respect and equal opportunity," says Pon. "We are proud that our commitment has been recognized for the sixth year in a row by the Human Rights Campaign."
Alaska Air, American Airlines, ContinentalAirlines, Delta Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Virgin America are the other airlines that were recognized by the campaign for their work environments and inclusive corporate cultures.
