Aviation industry vital to community economic success

The financial impact an airport can have on a community can easily be underestimated. For some areas, such as Miami, the key to keeping the economy strong may lie within the industry.
As the Miami Herald notes, the Miami International Airport is crucial to the area's economic well-being. Thousands of people are employed within the industry, ranging from aircraft maintenance crews to pilots. Then, of course, there are the people employed by hotels and restaurants that serve passengers and the aviation employees.
The paper continued to suggest that a commercial air show could potentially bringing additional revenue to the city.
The business editor of the paper notes that "vibrant niche enterprises can only help Florida grow. Whether sectors like fashion and biotech eventually provide the same punch as healthcare, tourism and real estate may not matter. As long as they offer additional options to keep job and dollars flowing, South Florida likely will be glad to have them."
According to the Miami International Airport, it, along with aviation-related industries, is responsible for the employment of over 282,000 local people.
