Effective teaching of aviation mechanics requires more space

Ivy Tech is trying to gather funds for the construction of a new building at the Smith Field airport in Indiana. Airport Business reports that the proposed project may cost around $2.5 million, but it will offer double the classroom space of Ivy Tech's current facilities, according to Airport Business. The new building may allow the certification training program room for expansion.
The program trains airframe and power plant mechanics to meet the Federal Aviation Administration's certification requirements, according to the News Sentinel of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Aviation maintenance mechanics must be officially certified in either airframe or power plant mechanics, if not both.
Better training for aviation mechanics may lead to better safety provisions for pilots, but the risks associated with flying may not disappear completely. Pilot life insurance can be a good way to ensure that pilot's families are protected in case anything ever goes wrong in the air.
Mark Keen, the Chancellor of Ivy Tech, told the news source that the maintenance program must meet certain requirements to be eligible to dole out certifications to potential future aviation mechanics.
