In an age where employees rarely stay within a single industry for an extended period of time, the Federal Aviation Administration and American Airlines are honoring two mechanics for their many years of service.
Retired quality assurance supervisor C.W. "Bill" Denton and retired outside services tech representative Leonard Hoosier are both being honored with the prestigious Charles E. Taylor award for their 50 years of work and dedication.
"To receive this award, it not only tells the world that its recipient is dedicated to the craft of aviation mechanics, but it also demonstrates that the ever-evolving aviation industry requires this type of commitment to continue its success," said American managing director of aircraft overhaul maintenance Mark Easton. "We are grateful for their service to the industry and hope others will follow in their footsteps."
Eligible award recipients must have served 50 years as a mechanic and been an FAA-certified mechanic for at least 30 years. The award honors Charles E. Taylor, whose many achievements included working with the Wright Brothers to help build the first airplane.
