General aviation pilots bring hope to Haiti

Some people fly as a hobby, others do it as a career, and some have found a way use the skill to help others.
One man is using his passion for flying to help others around the world, Dan Namowitz wrote for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Carl Works is a general aviation pilot who has two organizations helping people in Haiti.
In his article, Namowitz discusses how Works has been bringing relief to the country. Pilots are needed, he writes, to help bring goods to areas of Haiti that are less accessible.
Currently Walks' efforts, according to Namowitz, include assisting orphanages, schools and a medical facility. Works told Namowitz he is concerned some people won't receive the help they need.
There are other ways, too, general aviation pilots can use their special skills and talents to benefit others. In many cases, the efforts can be used in the U.S.
In October of last year, for example, the Glendale Star reported on how more than 160 pilots helped transport blood and medical equipment domestically to hospitals.
