Hall of Fame to stay in Daytona

The National Aviation Hall of Fame has decided to keep its 2012 enshrinement ceremony in Dayton, Ohio. Hall of Fame officials said they came to the agreement after deliberations with Daytona business leaders eager to ensure the financial success of the event. The officials were debating whether the event should stay in Ohio or be moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
In response to the decision, U.S. Representative Mike Turner from Ohio said he is happy the annual event will stay in his state, providing an opportunity to highlight the region's historic role in the development of flight.
"This decision is a recognition of our history and the commitment of our community to this event," Turner said. "I look forward to continuing to work with the NAHF to ensure that this event remains in Dayton for years to come."
Tony Sculimbrene, executive director of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance, told Springfield News Sun that his organization has pledged $10,000 to support the event in Daytona. Sculimbrene believes if other participating organizations pull together their time, effort and resources, the event will be a success.
Pilots looking to make it into the Hall of Fame should remember the fundamentals, such as flight safety and pilot insurance.
