The Iowa National Guard recently announced it will rededicate the Davenport Aviation Readiness Center after the completion of its latest renovations. The rededication ceremony will celebration the completion of the upgrade project, which included new ceilings, energy-efficient heating, air-conditioning systems and other renovations.
In an interview with Radio Iowa, National Guard spokesman Colonel Greg Hapgood said the second phase of the renovations added 2,000 square feet to the facility and made the airport more energy efficient.
“The goal of the Iowa National Guard is to renovate facilities so that none of our buildings are older than 20 years old that haven’t been renovated yet, so this is one of those programmed renovations and additions that we were able to secure federal and state funding and were able to complete it this year,” Hapgood told the source.
According to WQAD, the $2.1 million project included a 7,800-square-foot addition to the facility, along with a new media classroom, administrative offices, a kitchen and storage space. The facility was constructed in 1972 and was in need of repairs. The Davenport Aviation Readiness Center houses more than 200 soldiers from the 248th Aviation Support Battalion and 2-211th General Support Aviation Battalion.
Pilot insurance is also a product that needs regular upgrades. Pilots should reassess their pilot insurance to make sure they are receiving the best possible coverage.
