The Museum of Flight recently pulled in its latest acquisition, restoring the antique Lockheed Model 10-E aircraft at its facility. The plane has a vast history, as the same type was flown by Amelia Earhart on her attempt to fly around the world in 1937. According to Dottie Simpson, the aviator and adventurer who announced the acquisition, the exhibit will be an inspiration for all those who have a dream to have a future in aviation or space exploration. The new aircraft will give officials from the Museum of Flight a new story to tell to visitors of the exhibit, telling accounts of one of the world's most famous women aviators in a way that is different from other museums. The Museum of Flight launched a successful fundraising campaign to purchase the Electra aircraft during the summer of 2012, leading the museum toward taking full ownership of the plane. When aviators tour the grounds, it could encourage them to invest in pilot insurance to prepare for unexpected circumstances that could arise in the future. Purchasing this insurance could give pilots the security that they need when they are flying.
