Having a strong field of job candidates with a science and technology background is crucial for the future success of the aviation industry. However, research has shown that a number of people currently employed in the industry are looking for new jobs. Furthermore, research has shown that many children lose interest in math and science as they get older.
A Harris Interactive poll conducted for iBIO Institute and Astellas Pharma found that 87 percent of science teachers and 72 percent of parents believe it's important to use real-life applications when teaching science to students.
Astellas Pharma president and CEO Seigo Kashii says it's important to equip teachers with the tools they need to engage children in the sciences.
"In this technologically advanced and competitive world, a solid science education is vital to the future of our children," says Kashii. "We need to rekindle their natural curiosity about science, and the best way to do that is to make sure our science teachers have the resources and the mentoring opportunities they need to inspire a life-long love of science in their students."
There are several space and aviation camps help throughout the country that can also help children understand the relationship between what they learn in the classroom and how it can be applied to real-life situations.
