Wounded veterans take flight with help of new organization

The first two recipients of Wounded Warrior Aviation scholarships for general aviation training recently took their inaugural training flights. Wounded Warrior Aviation is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to wounded veterans who want to obtain flight and technical training.
Eli Tice, a 20-year-old U.S. Marine, expressed his excitement at the prospect of learning to fly. The Marine suffered severe damage to his right arm and lost his right leg while serving in Afghanistan last year, but that hasn’t held him back from chasing his dreams.
"I haven't found anything I can't do yet - although I have to do just about everything differently than before," Tice told the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Tice, and anyone else who would like to learn to fly recreational aircraft, should consider pilot life insurance as an added measure of protection in case anything goes wrong during or after training.
Tice and U.S. Army veteran, Matt Davis, each made their first flights in a Cessna 162 Skycatcher. Bob Hepp, the owner of the flight school, told the news source that the plane is a good model for wounded veterans because it is easy to get in and out of, and it is technologically advanced.
