The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is preparing to hold a fundraising event this November. The foundation hopes to raise funds to help support the aviation industry.
The dinner and auction will be held on November 13 at the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. An online auction commences on October 1 until November 13. Items up for bid include a Waco YMF-5D airplane.
AOPA president and CEO Craig Fuller says the fundraiser will be a good opportunity for aviation enthusiast to gather.
"The AOPA Foundation has a big job - funding initiatives that we believe are vital to ensuring the future of general aviation," says Fuller. "A Night for Flight is an opportunity for those who care deeply about general aviation to help preserve the future …. and to have an enjoyable evening while doing so."
The number of pilots and those training to become pilots has been steadily declining, according to AOPA. The foundation hopes to use funds to create more resources for aspiring pilots. Additionally, funding will also help make flying a more safe and affordable experience.
