EAA holiday auction in full swing

The Experimental Aviation Association's annual Spirit of the Holidays auction is currently underway, encouraging aviation fans to head to their website and bid on various items. The auction will run from now until December 10.
"We can't thank you enough for supporting this effort through the donation of a gift item or through your bidding!" said Elissa Lines, EAA vice president of donor and business relations. "Have fun! And may you and your family enjoy a happy, healthy holiday season and a New Year filled with peace."
This year's auction includes 52 items up for sale including a once-in-a-lifetime AirVenture VIP package, which includes weekly admission to the show, lodging at a hotel in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a week's use of golf cart; two Aviator's Club weekly passes; and invitations to the President's BBQ, as well as a Dynon D1 Pocket Panel; a 2012 Naval Centennial commemorative Breitling watch and various posters; lithographs and books, not to mention the opportunity to bid on having a tree planted on the AirVenture grounds in your name.
The EAA hosts its annual AirVenture fly-in at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It is the largest aviation event in the world and brought in nearly 500,000 aviation fans at this year's event, who had the chance to experience more than 10,000 aircraft, including anything from home-builts to war-birds to planes that flew in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
The top items for bidding, as of late November, were the Dynon Pocket Panel, a signed photo of World War II veteran Bud Anderson, an EAA lifetime membership and a print of Daylight Raid, which was signed by its artist Frank Wooten.
All the proceeds for the auction go to supporting EAA programs.
The EAA recently lost its president as Rod Hightower announced his resignation last month, after being in charge the past few years.
“Maura and I have five children ranging in age from pre-school to college freshman,” Hightower said at the time of his resignation. “When I accepted the position two years ago I believed that we could as a family relocate to the Oshkosh area. But our family and school involvement have increased as our children advance in the schools they, and we as their parents, love."
