The city of Concord, North Carolina, recently announced an aircraft fair to be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30, that will feature airplane rides, talks with pilots and a variety of airplanes on display in a hangar.
The Young Eagles Flight Rally, organized by the Experimental Aircraft Association to introduce young people to aviation, will be held at the Concord Regional Airport. Attendees ages 8-17 can sign up for airplane rides with EAA pilots, and the festivities will include flyovers, food and other entertainment.
"Free airplane rides are just part of the flight rally," said EAA Chapter 309 president Chuck Porter. "We hope to build one-to-one relationships between pilots and young people, giving a new generation a chance to learn more about the possibilities that exist in the world of aviation."
Those participating in the airplane rides will receive Young Eagle certificates and have their names entered in what the EAA calls the "World's Largest Logbook."
The two day event will also host discussions with pilots to introduce young people to the world of aviation. Topics include the science of flight, pilot safety and other pilot considerations. Pilot insurance, for example, is often specialized to address the specific needs of pilots, covering them for risks that traditional insurance policies may not include in coverage.
