PBS to strengthen science and technology reporting team

Science news has been pushed to the side on many broadcast and media outlets. However, PBS's NewsHour has recently announced it is expanding its broadcast and online science and technology news segments.
An enhanced commitment to science and technology could lead to more aviation-related coverage. The station hired veteran journalist Miles O'Brien, who has a passion for aviation, to bolster their science coverage.
"Science is so important to our lives and the NewsHour has a reputation for giving thoughtful and in-depth coverage to all its reporting," says O'Brien. "I look forward to producing work that helps people better understand the work being done by scientists today."
PBS hopes that the newscast coupled with their website will help fill a void in science and technology reporting and become a source for those who seek out the latest happenings in the industry.
Recently, a number of programs have been launched to increase children's interest in the math, science, and technology fields. While not geared specifically towards children, airing programming and having interactive tools online may help hold their interest in these areas.
