A private recovery team recently discovered the bodies of two Asiana commercial airline pilots whose Boeing 747 crashed into the ocean several months ago during a flight from Incheon International Airport in South Korea to Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, according to the Korea Times.
The bodies of pilots Choi Sang-ki and Lee Jung-woong were recovered from the seafloor in an area west of Jeju, South Korea, along with a section of fuselage believed to be the cockpit.
According to the source, the last radio contact from the airliner noted a fire emergency on board the plane, which was transporting a number of flammable materials, including alkaline batteries and paint.
Investigators are trying desperately to recover a black box from the plane to discover what went wrong, but have so far been unsuccessful.
Some of the attention surrounding the crash regards the life insurance policies taken out by Choi mere months before the crash, and some speculate that the crash was intentional, though family members vehemently deny these claims. Many aviators take out specifically tailored life insurance for pilots to cover the risks of their profession that would not be covered by a typical insurance policy.
